This grid-tie system was installed in George, South-Africa and consists of 10kW Solar World PV panels, 56 kW.h storage, Battery Monitor System, 2 x 5 kW SMA grid-tie inverters and 1 x 10 kVA Victron Quatro inverter/charger. The system feeds excess power into the utility grid, for which the owner is compensated. This enhances the economy of the system and will shield the owner from power cuts as well as electricity price increases for the foreseeable future.

The system allows the house to function completely off-grid for prolonged periods of time and will only draw power from the grid during unusually long cloudy days.
