Solar Mini-Grids

A solar mini-grid is a localized, small-scale energy generation and distribution system that uses solar power as its primary energy source to supply electricity to a community, industrial site, or group of buildings. Mini-grids are typically used in areas that are remote, underserved, or completely off-grid where traditional grid infrastructure is absent or unreliable.

Types of Mini-Grids

Grid-Tied Mini-Grids

These can operate in conjunction with the main grid but can also function independently in the event of grid failures. Excess energy generated can be fed into the main grid if allowed by local regulations.

Off-Grid Mini-Grids

Operate independently from the main electrical grid and are common in remote areas. These are entirely self-sufficient, relying solely on the solar energy generated and stored locally.

Solar mini-grids are widely used in remote, rural areas that lack access to a national power grid. They provide a clean, reliable source of electricity for homes, schools, health centers, and businesses.

This includes the following aspects:

Design and construction of the containerized PCU (Power Conversion Unit)
Design and construction of ground-mount solar array
Design and construction of power reticulation network
Wiring of the buildings (homes, clinics, schools, etc)
Monitoring of the performance of the systems.
